sQuba: Rinspeed Concept Car Is All Wet
Frank M. Rinderknecht, CEO and Founder of Rinspeed, Inc., has built a new concept car based on the Lotus Elise that not only looks good on the road but can actually submerge and travel underwater for as much as two hours at a depth of up to 10m.
Built at a cost of approximately $1 million Euros, the cars gasoline powered engine has been replaced by three electrical motors to power the rear wheels and propellers. The sQuba car can attain a top speed of 75mph on land, 4mph cruising atop the water, and a leisurely 2mph submerged.
Unfortunately for those of us who love James Bond, high tech, and concept cars, they’re not planning to put the sQuba into production.
